We are gearing up to repair the cross country course and plan to run a series of clinics and club days as fundraisers.

Our clinics will be held on the third weekend of every month.

We will also hold a club day on the first Tuesday of every month.

FIRST EVENT: Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Well after having to postpone the horse trials once before, we are just devasted that due to the continuing flood damage we have been unable to access the cros country course to complete it.

Further to this we have experienced significant damage due to erosion and falling trees.

Nothing irreparable but certainly time consuming and expensive to fix.

We will endeavour to press on and will look forward to hosting a fantastic event in the future.
All the entry cheques we received have been returned - thank you to those who committed early, we'll try to make it up to you in the future :)

We all had such a fantastic week, two days of glorious riding followed by three days clinic with Will Enzinger & Emily Anker. Everyone got so much out of it as these two wonderful riders are so generous with their time and knowledge.

Due to the heat, we rescheduled the Saturday and had a a couple of sessions in the classroom. Sue Nevett, Dressage judge explained some common rider errors and what judges look for in a Dressage test. Stephen Rogers, junior Olympic rider from the USA gave us his really interesting and useful tips on managing a horse after cross country.

Our evenings were also fun as we all sat under the stars and told stories. We all learnt heaps and are looking forward to the next one on April 24th - 26th.

OUR ACTIVITIES

You are welcome to hire the facilities to host your own clinic, camp or event or join ours.

Clinics · We will hold regular clinics with top professionals from Australia and overseas in all disciplines of riding and horsemanship.

Camps · With ample room for camping you can experience the great outdoors, the native animals and amazing stars at night. Overnight stays can be catered for and we can even include a dance party and karaoke.

Lectures · All aspects of theory from Anatomy, Movement, Conformation, Nutrition etc etc to Breeding and Stud Management, the Principals of Riding, Cross Country Riding, Horsemanship and Float Loading will be delivered by knowledgeable professionals. Modules of education are available separately or as a course. Information and assessments will be hosted on line to compliment the practical sessions.

Rides · You can ride out as groups or on your own. There are ample trails to follow to explore the Wellsford Forest, which lead up over the Sugarloaf Ranges and through scenic valleys. There are plenty of alternative rides but one of the favourites is down to the sandy beaches of the Campaspe River, where 500 year old gum trees shade the grassy flats and you can either paddle in the shallows or swim in the deeper pools.

THE GOLD FIELDS STADIUM

Carefully designed to blend into the natural bush setting, this amazing landform has been man made from 45,000 cubic metres of rock and sculptured into three large grassed banks for seating and a stage.

It has the capacity to seat approximately 10,000 people
The main arena is 100m x 75m laser levelled for drainage with a sand surface.
The banks have grassed slopes with flat areas on top for parking, exhibitors and disabled people.
It has a scenic setting with excellent viewing over the entire property, including views of the entire cross-country course, water complex and cloverleaf lake.
The warm up arena is 70m x 40m
The cross country course has been designed and built by Ewan Kellett, and was used for the 2009 Pony Club State Championships.
There is ample parking and camping areas.

THE BUSH COURTYARD

This facility overlooks an enclosed (not under cover) 60m x 60m sand arena. It has a lecture room with a huge whiteboard, kitchen, showers and toilets, an undercover verandah and lovely outdoor garden settings.

The beginning ...

On Monday, October 25th 2009 - the Gold Fields Equestrian Club was formed.

The inaugural committee consists of:

President - Vanessa Hawkins

Vice President - Ed English

Joint Secretary - Angela Dole and Paul Burge

Treasurer - Simon Bazley

others include Jeff Jackson, Asher Jackson and Nancy Hawkins.

Our Statement of Purposes are:

To provide good facilities for the local community to enjoy
To attract likeminded people into the area
To promote appreciation and interest in equestrian sports, rural living and horse activities.
To educate, train, coach and encourage Members.
To do all such things and acts conducive to the furtherance of the objects and interests of the Association
